چکیده

An expression for the radiation force from a cw-laser on a fluidfluid interface is derived that is able to model the giant deformations observed in modern experiments when the fluid system is close to the critical point implying that the surface tension is very small. The core of our argument is that the system is modelled as a step-index optical fiber. Then, observing that the dominant HE11 mode in the fiber means a considerable enhancement of the radiation energy density in the central part of the core, we are able to derive in a natural way a reasonably accurate description of the observed effects. To our knowledge this is the first time that a quantitative theory of the giant deformations, experimentally observed in particular by the Bordeaux group, is given. Nonlinear Analysis of Flow-induced Vibration in Fluid-conveying Structures using Differential Transformation Method with Cosine-Aftertreatment Technique

In this work, analytical solutions are provided to the nonlinear equations arising in thermal and flow-induced vibration in fluid-conveying structures using Galerkin-differential transformation method with cosine aftertreatment technique. From the analysis, it was established that increase of the length and aspect ratio of the fluid-conveying structures result in decrease the nonlinear vibratio...

Optohydrodynamics of soft fluid interfaces: optical and viscous nonlinear effects.

Recent experimental developments showed that the use of the radiation pressure, induced by a continuous laser wave, to control fluid-fluid interface deformations at the microscale, represents a very promising alternative to electric or magnetic actuation. In this article, we solve numerically the dynamics and steady state of the fluid interface under the effects of buoyancy, capillarity, optica...

Experimental Study of the Laser Induced Flow and Thermophoresis of Suspending Microparticles

The induced flow effect is the rotary motion generated in the fluid flow due to the temperature gradient. The phenomenon of thermophoresis is the movement of particles from the warmer side of the fluid to the cooler side. Laser is a very suitable device for creating a temperature gradient due to its unique features such as high power density, harmonic waves, single wavelength and very low diver...

Viscous Fluid Flow-Induced Nonlocal Nonlinear Vibration of Embedded DWBNNTs

In this article, electro-thermo nonlocal nonlinear vibration and instability of viscous-fluid-conveying double–walled boron nitride nanotubes (DWBNNTs) embedded on Pasternak foundation are investigated. The DWBNNT is simulated as a Timoshenko beam (TB) which includes rotary inertia and transverse shear deformation in the formulation. Considering electro-mechanical coupling, the nonlinear govern...

Thermocapillary flows and interface deformations produced by localized laser heating in confined environment

The deformation of a fluid-fluid interface due to the thermocapillary stress induced by a continuous Gaussian laser wave is investigated analytically. We show that the direction of deformation of the liquid interface strongly depends on the viscosities and the thicknesses of the involved liquid layers. We first investigate the case of an interface separating two different liquid layers while a ...
